The Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) has announced their strategic partnership with China’s largest social media platform, Weibo. Weibo is the only Chinese social media that PyeongChang 2018 work with in China.
Under the strategic partnership, Weibo and the POCOG will work together to deliver the latest news about PyeongChang 2018 to Chinese wintersports enthusiasts. Currently, the POCOG’s official account on Weibo is @2018年平昌冬季奥运会.
The two sides will also use Weibo’s other products such as their live streaming platform, video clips and athlete popularity ranking, to engage more interest from Chinese users and further their understanding of the 2018 Winter and Paralympic Games.
Regarding this partnership, Lee Hee-beom, President of the POCOG, stated that the committee would pay more attention to publicizing Pyeongchang 2018 in the Chinese market. Lee also believed that Weibo would help to ignite more Chinese people’s interest in watching the Games next month.
Zhang Zhe, head of Weibo Sports, expressed that partnering with the POCOG was a new milestone for Weibo and also promised that this social media platform would dedicated themselves to encouraging more Chinese people’s understanding and participation in winter sports.
