August 28: Beijing iRena-backed Ourgame International Holdings Limited has released its 2017 interim report. As shown in the report, the online card and board game developer generated RMB 270 million in the first 6 months of this year.
Propped up by the expansion of its online and offline events, the Beijing-based company posted a 27.6% increase in the second quarter to RMB 150 million. Their desktop game markets grew by 41.2% to RMB 71.38 million while the mobile business and other channels reported a double-digit growth.
Ourgame’s World Poker Tour business remained stable and the WPT’s TV programs reached more than 140 million households globally as of 30 April 2017. The launch of PlayWPT on iOS in the first quarter is expected to better monetize its grobal brand. It is also expected to expand business into Japan, India, Brazil and Portugal.
Ourgame has seen a rapid growth in the e-sports business in the first half of 2017. The company has increased its brand image through opening its global flagship arena at Las Vegas, as a part of its cooperation with the MGM Group.
The gaming firm also made made significant progress in building its own branded IP tournaments. In April 2017, more than 500 teams competed in its Legend Series CS: GO tournament held in Germany. The company also obtained the rights to hold the Overwatch Open Division tournaments in China.
Ourgame has sold a 23.78% percent stake to Beijing iRena in a $178 million deal in November, 2015.
