OC&C Strategy Consultants released a report about popularity of retail brands in China in 2014. According to this report, Adidas and Nike ranked the first and the second place respectively. The other 8 most favored brands by Chinese consumers include e-retail brands such as Tmall, JD, and Taobao, retail chains such as Walmart, and clothing brand UNIQLO.
The top 10 brands are listed below. (Adidas, Nike, Tmall.com, IKEA, JD.com, Walmart, Taobao.com, RT-MART, The Store, UNIQLO).
This is the fifth year that OC&C Strategy Consultants produces this retail brands index. Adidas and Nike have been at the top of the ranking for three years in a row. It’s considered to be unique around the world, because in other markets that OC&C researched, the ranking has normally been led by large full-sectors e-commerce brands, such as Amazon.
The 2014 report was made after a survey of more than 2,000 people around China. This survey asked them to choose their favorite retail brand.
This report also has rankings of some individual sub-categories of the retail business. Namely, sporting goods retail, everyday grocery retail, clothing retail, online stores, and electronics retail.
In clothing retails, UNIQLO has an obvious advantage, which also increases every year. The next few most welcomed brands are H&M, Only, Zara, and GAP.
In the everyday grocery sector, Walmart and Taiwan brand RE-MART ranks the first and the second respectively.
For sports apparel retails, the top 5 brands in China are Adidas, Nike, 361°, Anta, and Li Ning. Nike is the best brand in terms of fashion elements, Adidas does best in quality, service, store appearance, product suitability, customer trusts, product choices. Anta is the best brand in terms of low prices.
