European countries willing to cooperate in football reform

A meeting named “Sports and Education: Perspectives of China and Europe” was held last Friday in Beijing. This meeting was part of the events that celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between Europe and China. 

Officials attending the meeting included a number of ambassadors of European countries, and the officials from Department of Physical, Health and Arts Education of the Ministry of Education. 

The Chief of Department of Physical, Health and Arts Education said that China planned to have 20,000 to 50,000 football specialty schools in five years and there were large demands of European football coaches and experts in this regard. 

Hungarian ambassador asked whether China had plans to bring European football coaches and teaching methods to China. Chinese officials answered that China would select 120 campus football teachers from Europe and they would work in China for 10 months. This plan would be implemented in areas with better football performances first. 

The ambassador of Luxembourg said that they would be willing to send youth teams to China to exchange, and hoped that China would send youth teams of table tennis to Luxembourg to help raise performances of their table tennis.

The chief of the European ambassador group expressed willingness to assist China for football reforms.
