NBA and NBA China announced on their official social network Sina Weibo account that the Weibo NBA Fan Night presented by Dongfeng Nissan will be held on October 9 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. Fans will see stars from the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets and famous actors and artists perform in a basketball challenge event.
The NBA has organized the event to give something back to Chinese fans to thank them for their support for the NBA China Games over the past 7 years,. However this will be the first time the NBA will work together with its official Chinese social network partner Sina Weibo to organize a Fan Night. The aim is to reach out to more fans by inviting more actors and artists to the event than ever before. Fan Night tickets will be offered for free to fans through a series of events organized by NBA China’s digital and marketing partners.
The Fan Night will be streamed exclusively by Sina Weibo. Ctrip, Gatorade, Linglong Tire, Luckin Coffee, Master Kong, Migu, Nike, Tissot, Vivo, One Leaf and X Financial will provide support to the Fan Night as its market partners.
Sino Weibo became NBA’s official Chinese social network platform in March, 2017. The two parties work together to provide short NBA games videos, game highlights, original content and rich interactive products, helping to create a remarkable experience for NBA fans. As of now, NBA’s official Sina Weibo account has over 40 million followers, while in the 2018-19 season, NBA related videos were viewed 17 billion times.
