August 30: As part of the partnership between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Ministry of Education of China, training clinics jointly conducted by both sides involving basketball coaches and physical education teachers from over 2,000 elementary, middle and high schools in China have come to a close in Guangzhou. Beginning on August 7th, the two parties held fifteen 3-day clinics in eleven cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Guiyang, with eight foreign coaches taking part.
In this year's edition of the basketball clinics, the curriculum designed and developed by the NBA and the Ministry of Education of China was applied to the coaching courses. Teachers who took part in these clinics will now go back to their schools and hold a basketball course once a week, using this curriculum. Furthermore, NBA China will offer a series of teaching tools and introduction videos to the teachers and stage basketball games in these schools in order to promote the sport of basketball among Chinese teenagers.
Reportedly, over 2 million students from China's elementary, middle and high schools will enjoy this basketball training course employing this joint NBA-Ministry of Education-developed curriculum in the upcoming semester.
