The official website of Football Association announced on March 6 that Letv Sports has acquired major rights related to the Chinese Women Football Super League and First League. Letv Sports now has exclusive global media rights of Chinese Women Football Super League, selling rights of title sponsorships of the Women’s Football Super League and First League, and business development rights of Women’s Super League. It would also be in charge of TV signal productions. All the rights start from the 2015 season, and last for five seasons.
Women football in China has achieved great successes in the past, but in recent years, the sport has declined in many aspects, including commercially. There was even no broadcasting at one time.
Lei Zhenjian, CEO of Letv sports, said that there were two goals in this collaboration. One is to display CSR of Letv by helping Chinese women’s football, and the other one is to prove the company’s wide-ranged value in event management, signal production, content promotion, etc.
They plan to broadcast all events of the Super League, and air the events on Letv platform. They would also work with other TV stations and media to promote the league. Finally, they would also develop related business values in areas such as football training, video games, smart devices, and marketing services.
