Updated on March 7: IMG, recognizing itself as the global leader in entertainment, sports and fashion, has signed a three-year deal with the China Sports Media (CSM), which will see IMG seek broadcast partners outside China for the CSL and provide suggestions for TV production of the league.
The China Central Television (CCTV) Network is expected to broadcast 2 matches each round of the 2018 Chinese Super League (CSL) while the local TV stations will run all home and away matches of their local CSL teams, according to China Sports Media, the current rights holder of the league. One of the two matches would be broadcast on Saturday evenings.
Remaining as the league’s exclusive New Media Partner in the new season, Suning-backed PPTV will broadcast all 240 CSL matches on Suning media platforms including Suning.com, longzhu.com, pptv.com and CIBN Sports.
More partners will be also added to the portfolio of 96 overseas broadcasters of the 2017 season, while the additional partnerships will be confirmed in the near future. The CSL has found media partners in Europe and Latin America, allowing fans in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Brazil to watch the Chinese Top professional football league via platforms like Sky Sports and Fox.
The new CSL season kicked off on March 2. According to the schedule of CCTV 5, the first round of this league may not be accessible on the platform.
