The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) has signed a strategic cooperation deal with Infront China, presenting a national 3x3 basketball tournament for grassroots players to reach their Olympic games.
As the exclusive marketing partner, Infront China will work towards maximizing the commercial value of the tournament.
As CBA Chairman Yao Ming said, the national tournament was launched in 2017, as the CBA’s response to the encouragement by the General Administration of Sport of China. The sport was also named as an official event at the 2017 National Games.
Yao also remarked, “3x3 basketball developed for many years before making an official debut at the Olympic Games. The sport has its popularity as many 5x5 players are former 3x3 players, so I have confidence in the sport.”
The CBA’s 3x3 director Chai Wensheng believes that grassroots players can be as excellent as professional players can. “As we can see from the National Games last year, all four 3x3 titles were taken home by amateur players.”
