The Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Guoan has signed two partnership agreements with a high-school football club and Beijing Municipal Education Committee (BMEC). Reportedly, the two partnerships will focus on developing young football players and promote the sport of football among Beijing’s teenagers.
The high school campus-based football club, Beijing Yi Cheng BTV Sangao Football Club, is affiliated to Renmin University of China. Under this partnership, the Sangao Football Club will act as a new youth training base for Guoan, where the two parties will work together to identify and develop football talents among middle and high school students.
(23/1/2018 Update: the partnership with Beijing Yi Cheng BTV Sangao Football Club was officially kicked off on January 21st 2018 at a lauching ceremony in Renmin University of China.)
The partnership between Guoan and the BMEC began with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation by the two sides. Reportedly, the memorandum includes ten clauses covering the selection of footballing talent, the promotion of campus football, combining football skills training and cultural education for young players and supporting women’s football among others.
One of the highlights of this partnership is that the two sides will launch football programmes in Beijing’s primary schools, with the purpose of engaging more pupils to play football.
According to Guoan, these football programmes will take place first, in 100 pilot primary schools and will then be expanded to 800 schools across Beijing. As a further goal, the club hope to bring these games to 1000 primary schools located in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province.
To secure financial support for this partnership, a representative from Guoan told the Beijing News journalist that the club and the BMEC will jointly invest over RMB 100m into this partnership.
