December 18: Chinese video sharing website, Bilibili, has announced a plan to establish Bilibili Gaming (BLG), a new e-Sports team based on the current roster of IMay.
The financial terms of the IMay purchase deal have not been disclosed as of now.
IMay was originally named Edward Esports (EDE) and was formed later as the LSPL team for EDG. Its major players include AmazingJ, Athena, ADC jinjiao, Road and Ben4. The new club will play in the 2018 League of Legends Pro League (LPL) season representing Bilibili.
In 2016, the video-sharing site has entered the sports industry by renaming the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) club, Shanghai Sharks, as Shanghai Bilibili under a naming rights deal.
Bilibili focuses on anime, manga, and gaming content based in China, as it enables users to submit, view and add commentary subtitles to videos. As of 2015, the site has over 50 million users, with 75% of them under the age of 24.
