October 18: Jiangsu Province is looking to build more than 3,000 campus soccer specialist schools and more than 100 soccer reserve talents pilot schools by 2025, according to the recently-released provincial Implementation of the Soccer Reform and Development Plan.
The eastern-central coastal province of the country aims to “rank in the forefront of soccer comprehensive strength and development level across China by the year 2025.”
At the same time, the plan also involves 8,000 soccer spaces, one or two large-size specified soccer pitches with international advanced standards, and two or three influential soccer events. The local government also suggests that more than 5 million people in Jiangsu participate in soccer.
In addition to this, Jiangsu has plans to promote the development of public soccer through community soccer training, competitions and entertainment. Amateur soccer is also an important part of the plan, regulating that a model of city soccer competitions will be set up and more than 4,000 amateur soccer clubs will be registered by 2025.
