Shandong Hi-Speed Women’s Basketball Club has been set up starting a new era in the development of professional basketball in the coastal province of China.
Li Zheng, head of Shandong Sports Administration and Sun Liang, President of the state-owned Shandong Hi-Speed Group attended the opening ceremony held on Wednesday July 26.
As Li said, the women’s team is another innovative result arising from the two sides’ intensive research and negotiation. The Group, who became the corporate sponsors of Shandong men’s basketball club in 2014, will help to build up a more professional and commercialized women’s basketball club.
As stated at the conference, the current Shandong women’s basketball team, whose team members will be selected from The 12th National Games, has grown rapidly in recent years. It ranked 3rd in both the 2014 and 2016 National Championships.
According to several news reports, Shandong Hi-Speed Group, which engages in the construction and management of transportation infrastructure, will provide financial support throughout the transfer windows and also facilitate behind-the-scenes services.
