The Chinese Triathlon League (CTL), a new triathlon competition organised by China Triathlon Sports Association, was officially launched in Beijing yesterday. The news came from a press conference held at the Media Centre Hotel.
The Organising Committee announced that Beijing Aquawud Sports has been named as the exclusive agency which will be responsible for the operations of the new tournament. Additionally, the CTL has also teamed up with Chinese satellite TV station QHTV with regard to content production. Their partnership with CCTV Sports and Entertainment will see the CTL covered by CCTV across various platforms in the near future.
“With an increasing sports population, participation in triathlon is growing. The Chinese Triathlon League has emerged to meet the growing demand for (triathlon) competition,” said Ji Daoming, deputy director of GAS’s Management Centre of Cycling and Fencing, the governing body of triathlon in China.
The first edition of the CTL will have 10 tour races and 1 final race. The first race will be organised in Suizhong, a coastal city in Liaoning Province.
