According to a Netease report, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo announced on June 30 that it has become the exclusive official smartphone partner of NBA China. Although the financial terms have not been disclosed, industry insiders believe that this is a quite valuable deal which will take effect from this summer.
Vivo is a Chinese multinational technology company that designs, develops, and manufactures smartphones, smartphone accessories, software, and online services. South Korean actor Song Joong-ki has recently become an ambassador for this brand.
Last October, the smartphone brand replaced Pepsi and became the official sponsor of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the highest level professional cricket league in India. From 2015 through to the end of 2017, the two sides have agreed to co-operate extensively in terms of sports events, media exposure and marketing campaigns.
Its rival ZTE is the official smartphone sponsor for three NBA teams: the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, and Golden State Warriors.
