China's football club Guangzhou Evergrande is ranked 59th in the world football club rankings, followed by San Lorenzo from Argentina and Schalke 04 from Germany, according to the latest release from footballdatabase.com, a specialized football statistics website.
As the top ranked club in Asia and two-time AFC Champions League winners, Evergrande climbed 13 places to 59 in the overall rankings from the last edition.
Barcelona still lead in the world rankings, followed by the German Bundesliga champions Bayern München, with another Spanish club, Real Madrid, in the third place.
Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club is a professional Chinese football club that currently competes in the Chinese Super League under license from the Chinese Football Association.
The club is the first and only Chinese football club to win the AFC Champions League twice, in 2013 and 2015 respectively. It is also the first ever Chinese club to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup, making its first appearance in 2013.
