Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has reaffirmed its support for the Wellington Phoenix as the club fights to confirm its long-term existence in A-League.
The technology firm has been principal sponsor of the Phoenix since 2013. Andrew Bowater, Public Affairs Director of Huawei NZ said,” Our partnership with the Phoenix has been hugely important to our growth in New Zealand, introducing the brand to a massive audience and helping to forge new relationships in the corporate sector.
We have grown with the club and shared in their success. It is our intention to remain a close partner and supporter of the Phoenix as they continue to impress with their skill and passion as one of the most exciting teams in the A-League.
The Phoenix has one of the most impressive and stable networks of commercial partners in the League, and this is part of the attraction for a company like Huawei. The Phoenix remain a big part of our brand strategy. Huawei stands strong with the Phoenix as we push for the title this season and into the future.”
Sydney FC boss Graham Arnold said if they replace the Phoenix with another Sydney team it will considerably reduce their fan base and could force their owners to walk away.
