Haier partners with Indian Super League club

Haier, a Qingdao-based international home appliances and consumer electronics brand has announced its strategic partnership with the Chennaiyin FC team, making it the second year of association with Indian Super League,according to reports from Indian newspaper Finance India Everyday.

As part of the partnership, the team will be wearing the new jersey which features Haier's logo in front on the right hand side.

British authorities to set up a football office in Wuhan

British authorities plans to set up an office to work on youth football training programs and other football exchanges between Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, and its sister city Manchester, Britain, according to a report released by a Chinese news website China News.

The two cities have established close business ties since 1986. Earlier in March, British Consulate-General Wuhan was set up, making it the fourth British consulate general in China. The two sides signed a series of cooperation agreements, among which cooperation on sports areas, especially on football, has received wide attention.   

CBA names TAG Heuer official timekeeper and watch partner

The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with Swiss watchmaker Taker TAG Heuer in a press release held at Beijing Olympic Park on Wednesday.

Under the agreements, the Swiss brand becomes the official timekeeper and watch partner of Chinese top tier basketball league until the end of 2016/2017 season.

In addition, TAG Heuer also plans to launch an edition of CBA-themed watch next year.

President Xi calls for more sports exchanges and cooperation between China and UK

Soccer-mad Chinese President Xi Jinping called for more exchanges and cooperation between China and UK on sports, majorly on soccer, during his visit to City Football Academy on Friday, according to China’s leading news agency Xinhua.

Accompanied by British PM David Cameron, Mr Xi visited the City Football Academy of EPL giant Manchester City FC and presented at the former Manchester City player Sun Jihai ‘s inclusion into English National Football Museum’s fall of fame.

Chinese reportedly eyeing biggest F1 stake in $8.5bn bid

Eleven years after China became a stop in the Formula One motor racing calendar, a group of Chinese investors from the country now eyes to back an $8.5bn (£5.5bn) takeover bid for the sport, UK’s Sky News revealed.

According to Sky, China Media Capital (CMC) is leading a group of Chinese firms who want to invest roughly $1.5bn (£970m) in an offer being assembled by Stephen Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins American football team.

Former City star Sun Jihai joins English football's hall of fame

Chinese soccer player and former Manchester City star Sun Jihai is inducted into the Hall of Fame at UK’s National Football Museum during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s 5-day official visit to the country.
