Gillette, a leading men’s safety razors supplier, has appointed China’s emerging swimming star Ning Zetao as a latest brand ambassador.
The brand announced the news on Sina Weibo that Ning had become their spokesperson not long after he historically seized the trophy of men’s 100m freestyle at Kazan FINA World Championships earlier this month.
As analyst pointed out, the deal had been signed by the sides before Ning setting off for his campaign in Kazan, but was not revealed until his eye-catching win creating immediate buzz on Chinese social media.
The 22-year old now has joined up with the likes of David Beckham, Roger Federer and China’s Super Dan in endorsing products of the global razors suppliers.
But neither the duration nor the financial terms of the deal has been disclosed up to now.
Ning Zetao, called “tiny fresh meat” by most Chinese because of his good look, is expected see a significant increase in commercial values in the upcoming years, as some insiders of sports industry point out.
