According to the Chinese Olympic Committee Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province, China, has officially submitted its bid for the 2022 Asian Games yesterday.
The media has also pointed out that it is also possible that Hangzhou could be the only candidate for the event as no other Asian city has yet to announce their official event bid.
The organizing committee reportedly sent an investigation tour to Hangzhou last weekend.
The Olympic Council of Asia, the sports governing body of the region, will decide the host city of the event in Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan at its 34th Congress on September 16th 2015.
If Hangzhou wins, it will be the third Chinese city to host the event following Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010 respectively.
Last year, Hangzhou outlined its plans to bid for international sports events via its official website in 2014. Besides the 2022 Asian Games, other event bids include the 2019 East Asian Youth Games alongside the 2018 World Short Course Swimming Championships and 2020 FINA World Championships.
