Yesterday, retired NBA player Tracy McGrady was seen at Chongqing Jiangbei Airport. To Chongqing fans’ disappointment, he was just in his transit to Lichuan, Hubei, one of the 15 destinations of his “Comeback Tour” in China.
Except Shanghai and Nanjing, most of the 15 cities are small. But why McGrady didn’t make Chongqing one of his destinations? That’s because there was no sponsors and the idea of crowdfunding only received a lukewarm response. A previous survey showed that Chongqing citizens would rather spend money to go to concerts than watch basketball games. Chongqing businesses were concerned about the risks of organizing high-priced games.
During his tour, McGrady has played in a series of exhibition games, met with fans and attended dinner banquets.
