Anta, a leading sportswear brand in China, has reportedly signed a sponsoring deal with Zheng Zhi who is currently captain of both China’s national football team and Guangzhou Evergrande FC.
The 35-year-old, who was awarded the Asian Footballer of the Year in 2013, is widely rumored to win himself 7 million yuan by establishing partnership with Anta.
An insider of Anta has confirmed the deal but denied to reveal the price.
Anta has discovered the importance of football sector as a developmental strategy, as their CEO Ding Shizhong revealed in April.
The deal marks another approach made by Chinese sportswear provider to China’s leading football players. In last month, 361 Degrees has landed Yang Xu as a brand ambassador.
Neither Anta or 361 Degrees has ever launched football boots series but both show ambitions to march into football sector with the latter planning to launch its own series of football boots in the third quarter of the year.
