Key sponsor of China’s Tianjin Teda Football Club, QuanJian Company, may have decided to end its sponsorship yesterday evening. Up to now, QuanJian might have applied for the ending of cooperation, and the final step is just to wait for the final agreement from Tianjin Government.
According to reports, the contradiction between QuanJian and Teda had lasted for long. The blasting fuse which finally led to the divorce is the astonishing transfer of Chinese football player Sun Ke. On June 18th, Jiansu Sainty Football Club announced Sun Ke’s transfer to Teda. The transfer fee of Sun amazingly reached 66 million RMB which set a new record for Chinese football players’ transfer.
Actually, QuanJian, at first, was believed to have made a wise decision in its sports marketing because the transfer will definitely attract more and more attention to the company. However, finally the transfer became the full stop of the marriage between Quanjian and Teda, because Teda club showed its suspect on the value of the transfer in stadium. What’s more, Teda had been detesting QuanJian’s frequent interference in the development of club for quite a long time.
The breakup might cause huge loss for both sides. On the one hand, QuanJian might miss the chance to furtherly broaden its market with the help of CSL; on the other hand, Teda will lose its strong ally. Furthermore, the football industry may also undergo some affects from the breakup.
