NBA and Ministry of Education to build court beside Oriental Pearl Tower

‍‍NBA, the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China, and Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group jointly announced on 1 May that, an area of NBA-style basketball courts would be built beside the Oriental Pearl Tower and will be open to the public. 

The project is reported to be a part of the strategic collaboration between NBA and the Ministry of Education which was agreed in 2014. They plan to promote basketball around the country and enable more young people in China to feel its attraction, through basketball training on campuses and driving building of basketball courts. 

At the announcement ceremony, coaches sent by NBA did training sessions for children from some schools in Shanghai and NBA Yao Basketball Club. 

Oriental Pearl Tower is a landmark in Shanghai. It’s located in Pudong District, and is a signal tower for radio and TVs. 

Building a court beside the tower is no doubt a significant boost of the NBA brand.
