NBA China has recently extended a partnership with the Chinese Ministry of Education. The pair, who first established their partnership in 2014, will continue to promote fitness and basketball in elementary, middle and high schools across China.
In August, a pilot program will be launched for the training of physical education (PE) teachers from 500 schools in 10 provinces. From the 2016-17 school year, beginning in September, those PE teachers will work on enhancing students’ training through a weekly basketball curriculum.
"We are excited to broaden our partnership with the Ministry of Education to make a long-lasting impact on the lives of Chinese students through a jointly-designed basketball curriculum and a wide range of school basketball programs," NBA China CEO David Shoemaker said at a consultation meeting.
"This commitment marks another milestone in the NBA's youth and basketball development efforts in China," he added.
In addition, the two sides are to set up a basketball experts committee to give advice for the school basketball programs. They are also looking to co-operate in the fields of school basketball events, digital training platforms and other programs.
