Future of Sport: A Global Sports Week x Viva Technology Collaboration, Will Open in June 14

On Mar. 6, NBA China and Sina Weibo announced that they had formed a long term strategic partnership, and Weibo would become the official social media platform of NBA in China.
Based on Weibo’s active user base of over 0.3 billion, the two sides will publish live short videos of NBA events, as well as events highlights, original shows and various interactive products, in order to build a brand new interactive experience of international sports events. Weibo will also publish live broadcasts of NBA China’s fans activities, and titbits of events including the regular season, All-Star weekend, playoffs and finals.
Meanwhile, Weibo and NBA China will jointly launch original NBA-themed shows and distribute them through official Weibo accounts. These will include the likes of NBA, Weibo Sports and Weibo Basketball, as well as authorized MCN agencies and KOL accounts. Weibo will also set up an NBA micro-page in the “Discover” section and launch NBA events alert services.
Shu Dewei, the CEO of NBA China says that social media will become the core promotion platform for domestic and international sports events in the future, and sports & social will be a key part of the industry chain.
Wang Gaofei, the CEO of Weibo says that, as the largest Chinese social media platform in the world, the cooperation with NBA will be an important step for Weibo to further develop and improve user experience in the sports industry.
