On September 15, FIBA and the Chinese bottled water brand Ganten jointly announced that they will extend their global partnership until 2023.
The partnership means that Ganten will sponsor all international competitions organized by FIBA, and enjoy exclusive rights in the drinking water category until the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Other than the Basketball World Cup, the partnership also extends to the Men’s and Women’a Olympic Basketball Preliminaries, the FIBA Continental Cups, and the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Ganten first became FIBA’s global partner in 2018. During the recent 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup held in China, Ganten provided over 230,000 litres of drinking water through an exclusive cooperation with FIBA. Ganten also arranged the ‘water angels’ during the 92 Basketball World Cup games offering support to the athletes, helping the brand receive great exposure. As the partnership strengthens and expands, Ganten will provide bottled drinking water to all basketball competitions organized by FIBA.
Based in Shenzhen, the bottled water brand has become a sponsor to quite a few world-class sports events over the past number of years, including the China Open (tennis) and Australian Open (tennis) events, and as a partner to the International Basketball Federation, Federation Internationale de Volleyball and Serie A champions Juventus.
