On June 2, the 2019 ITTF World Tour Platinum China Open Table Tennis event came to a grand ending in Shenzhen, China. From 5/28 to 6/2, the prestigious tournament presented a table tennis spectacle, with over 200 players from 40 nations competing at the top level. Ma Long won the Men’s Singles event, with compatriot Chen Meng winning the Women’s Singles title after both overcame their Chinese teammates to become champions.
Most of the games played on the final day of the tournament entered the trending list on the Chinese social network Sina Weibo. The game that attracted the most attention however was played between Ma Long and the teenage Japanese sensation World Number 4 Tomokazu Harimoto. Young as he is, Harimoto is considered the most threatening opponent to Chinese male players for years to come.
Yutang Sports facilitated communication between the household bottled water brand Ganten and the organizers of the 2019 China Open Table Tennis, helping the brand to become a tournament sponsor for the second year in a row. Based in Shenzhen, the bottled water brand has become a sponsor for quite a few world-class sports events over the past number of years, including the China Open (tennis) and Australian Open (tennis) events, and as a partner to the International Basketball Federation, Federation Internationale de Volleyball and Serie A champions Juventus.
