As announced on the official website of the Premier League on March 26, the biennial 2019 Premier League Asia Trophy will return to China with games taking place in Nanjing and Shanghai in July.
Four teams will play in a double-header at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center on July 17, with Manchester City, the defending champions, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers participating. The third-fourth playoff and final will be held at the Shanghai Hongkou Football Stadium on July 20.
It is the first time that the Premier League Asia Trophy will be held in two cities with Beijing acting as hosts in 2009.
This will be the ninth edition of the tournament since it was founded. Richard Masters, the Premier League's Interim Chief Executive, said: “We are so glad to bring the Premier League Asia Trophy to China again this summer. Holding it in both Nanjing and Shanghai makes the Premier League and the football clubs very excited. Asian fans have shown unparalleled support to the Premier League for a long time. We are looking forward to seeing them this July!”
