On the eve of the 2018 Beijing Bird’s Nest Half Marathon, the organizing committee of the event announced at a press conference that the Chinese automotive brand Beijing Electric Vehicle Company (BAIC BJEV) have become the title sponsors of the event.
As reported by xinhuanet.com, the two sides signed the title-sponsorship agreement at the press conference. Under the agreement, BAIC BJEV will provide a set of new-energy vehicles to act as official cars of the race, including transportation for timekeepers.
Lian Qingfeng, the news spokesman for BAIC BJEV, explained the reason why the brand wanted the position of the event’s title sponsor. “We share a common goal to protect the environment and to promote environmentally friendly transportation,” said Lian, “We will provide a zero-air pollution track during this event for runners.”
Founded in 2009, BAIC BJEV is the electric vehicle unit of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd (BAIC) and currently one of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers in China.
The Beijing Bird’s Nest Half Marathon was inaugurated in 2015. This year, its route will stretch from Olympic Forest Park to the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest). Other Beijing Olympic landmarks such as the Water Cube and the National Indoor Stadium will also feature along this route.
