The Hebei Daily, the local newspaper of Hebei Province, has reported that the province will see the number of sports venues and sports fields reach 70,000 in 2018, according to research done by the Provincial Sports Bureau of Hebei.
Among these 70,000 sports venues and sports fields, Hebei Province will encourage more stakeholders to build public skating venues in the province and subsidize the existing ones. Public fitness facilities construction projects for residents will also be supported by the Province, including 125 projects for urban communities and over 1,500 for rural communities.
In 2018, a lot of sports events will be staged in the province, including 2 provincial multi-sport events, 1 provincial traditional ethnic sports event plus 150 other sports events. As encouraged by Hebei Province, each city of the Province is expected to stage no less than 15 sports events in 2018.
Regarding winter sports, Hebei Province has also required that 11 cities in the province to have at least one winter sports venue each. During the 2018/2019 season, the Province hopes to stage at least 2 international winter sports events, over 5 national winter sports events and no less than 200 local winter sports activities.
Hebei is a province in North China region formed in 1928 after the central government dissolved the province of Chihli. One of the host cities of Beijing 2022, Zhangjiakou, is a city in Hebei Province.
