It was confirmed at the recent People’s Congress and People’s Political Consultative Conference of the Xicheng district of Beijing that twenty artificial removable ice rinks are to be built at the qualified schools and the qualified sub-districts during the “Thirteenth Five-year Plan” period.
Director of the sports bureau of Beijing Xicheng district, Bao Chuan, stated that their aim is to promote the Winter Olympics and create a good social atmosphere.
A skating center is scheduled to be built at the Temple of the Moon sports centre, which will be a place for physical exercise in winter in theXicheng district to complement the natural ice rinks of Shichahai, Beihai and Taoran Park.
in 2017, they plan to have public lectures on ice-snow sports for over four thousand people and to carry out promotions and exhibitions about the Winter Olympics in 20% of the sub-districts with each of the sub-districts having one or two promotions.
