“The snow sports industry in China has stepped into a “golden time.” “We should seize the opportunity and continually optimize the industrial layout,” said Lin Xianpeng, Vice President of the Asian Sport Industry Association and Deputy Dean of the College of Management of Beijing Sport University, He was speaking at the Inner Mongolia Sports Summit Forum on January 6.
He said the Chinese Government has already realized the tremendous potential the snow sports industry holds and has formulated many policies to promote the development of the industry. In recent years, the snow sports industry in China has developed rapidly. Yet a large gap still exists when compared with many European and American countries.
To further optimize the layout of the snow sports industry, we must take full account of multiple factors including geography and landforms, temperature, precipitation, population and traffic. Chinese ski resorts will mainly be distributed across the five snow industry belts. With abundant snow venues, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi can build clusters of industrial integration development with the snow sports industry as the core. Multiple industries can work together, so as to help the old industrial bases fulfil the transformation. As to the development mode, the single management of ski venues should be replaced by mountain resort leisure management.
Furthermore, the development of industries differ and unbalanced development must not be allowed. Limited by factors like geography and landforms, key development areas for the snow sports industry must be formed in China. Beijing, Hebei and Changbai Mountain areas have the potential to be the pioneers of the snow sports industry. Our country should focus on these leading areas and promote the development of the national snow sports industry step by step.
