The 2018 National Sports Industry Development Conference was recently held in Xiamen, Fujian Province from Jan 13 to 14, 2018. General Administration of Sport of China’s (GASC) Deputy Director Zhao Yong and the Chinese Basketball Association’s (CBA) President Yao Ming delivered their presentations at the conference.
Zhao emphasized six areas as current priorities of the sports industry in China:
1. Sports and recreation
2. Smart sports
3. Spectator sports
4. Sports training
5. Sports equipment manufacturing and its relevant services
6. Sports lottery
Zhao also stated that the GASC would coordinate the development of professional sports, mass sports and the sports industry in China, by promoting the hosting of high-quality sports events, the construction of sports complexes and supporting sports companies in China.
CBA’s President Yao Ming also disclosed at the conference the association’s plans to set up 10 new committees focusing on coaching, referees, teenagers, communications and other areas. Practitioners from every industry who are willing to add something for the development of Chinese basketball will have the chance to engage with the system, as pointed out by Yao.
Meanwhile, the CBA will support basketball events in China for amateur enthusiasts and children, as well as more 3X3 basketball games. By working together with educational authorities, as well as local sports bureaus and sports training organizations in other provinces and cities around China, the CBA will help in the development of basketball talent in China.
