December 12: Shanghai Media Group (SMG) has formed a partnership with Shanghai Jiushi Group, one of the leaders in Shanghai’s sports industry.
Along with this partnership, two subsidiary companies of Jiushi Group have invested in Great Sports, the sports channel of SMG, making Jiushi Group the second-largest shareholder of Great Sports.
Reportedly, the two Jiushisubsidiary companies focus on investment management and sports industry respectively. Alongside investing in Great Sports, the two companies will also bring their sports industry resources to the sports channel and jointly promote the sports industry in Shanghai.
Regarding the sports industry, Jiushi’s sports offshoots will partner with Great Sports to promote mass sports in Shanghai by leveraging the sports events operated by the former. Next year, the two parties will stage an amateur snooker event integrating entertainment and reality shows, where amateur snooker players will have a chance to become a “star”.
Additionally, this partnership between Jiushi Group and SMG will also cover other sports-related goals of Shanghai, including branding, sports venues and event operations.
