The logo of the 2021 World Rowing Championships was officially launched at the original site of the Shanghai Rowing Club on the evening of March 24, 2019. Featuring the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower and the Waibaidu Bridge (Garden Bridge), the logo represents the unique charm of Shanghai’s water culture and sports spirit. The launch of the logo also marks the beginning of the official preparation phase of the championship.
In October 2017, the International Rowing Federation (FISA) announced that Shanghai, China won the bid to host the 2021 World Rowing Championships against overwhelming odds. This is the first time that the championship is being held in China.
Luo Wenhua, the Deputy Director of the Shanghai Administration of Sports, states that Shanghai has the confidence and ability to work with the International Rowing Federation and the Chinese Rowing Association to hold a successful grand championship. Shanghai will also take the opportunity to vigorously promote, support and expand the sport of rowing.
