October 29, Macau: IBF Belt & Road Region (simply known as IBF B&R Region) has announced a partnership with the Yao Foundation, initiated by former NBA player Yao Ming.
The two parties have set up the IBF Boxing Culture Promotion Fund, boosting sports charity causes in China and the B&R Region.
At the same time, the IBF Silk Road Championship Tournament also started its first phase in Macau. The tournament became the first professional boxing match season co-hosted by IBF, attracting the best boxers from countries along the "Belt & Road" area.
Rejoy International, promoter and operator of the tournament, donated 200,000 yuan for youth boxing in Macau and Mainland China.
Early in May 2016, the IBF China started a charity tour partnering with famous boxers. The 2016 tour was promoted by Mike Tyson, former heavyweight boxing champion and charity ambassador of IBF China. Chinese female boxer Xie Lili will act as the second promoter of the tour.
