23 May 2024 14:34
September 21: Super Sports Media, which currently holds digital media rights for English Premier League in China, has acquired the exclusive digital broadcast rights for the 2018/19 and 2020/21 UEFA Nations League in mainland China.
No financial terms of the deal have been disclosed as of now.
The Nations League, created by Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) two years ago, will replace most friendly matches. The UEFA has unveiled a new logo for the event, which will kick off in September 2018.
The competition, as part of the qualification process for UEFA Euro 2020, will divide European national teams into four leagues. Each league will be further sub-divided into four groups of three or four teams.
As the UEFA said in an official statement, “Each league will have a path of its own and each path will feature two single-leg semi-finals and one single-leg final. The winner of each path will win a ticket to UEFA EURO 2020.”
The draw for the group stage will take place at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne, Switzerland on January 24, 2018, when the new trophy will also be unveiled.
