Wanda Sports, the sports division of Dalian Wanda, has announced a strategic agreement with international sportswear giant Under Armour, which will see the brand become an honorary sponsor of the 2017-2018 China race under the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.
According to their agreement, Under Armour will work as a sponsor to support the 2017 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series in Chengdu and Guangzhou, as well as the 2018 event to be held in 5 Chinese cities.
Wanda acquired Competitor Group Holdings, Inc. (CGI), organizer of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, in June. The San Diego-based group holds the marathon series in 30 cities that attracts more than 600,000 athletes each year, along with more than 20 other running races worldwide.
The United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Chengdu Marathon & Half Marathon, which is expected to take place on October 28, will become the first China race under this series. According to the calendar, the China tour will also include the New Year’s Eve Race in Guangzhou that is set to begin on December 31.
