August 4: At a press conference recently held in Beijing, the start date for the 2017/18 China University 3X3 Basketball League was announced along with the introduction of the Chinese sports company Guotai Huizhong as the exclusive official operators of the league from 2017-2022.
As chinanews.com reported, instead of only allowing amateur basketball enthusiasts from universities to play, the new league beginning in 2017 will allow all students including amateur players and players majoring in sports degrees to be eligible. Meanwhile, a series of scholarships will be offered to players at every phase of the league. The overall league champions will receive professional basketball coaching and will be selected to go to the US for further study.
In terms of the operations of the league, Guotai Huizhong will conduct a lot of online and offline interactive promotional activities for the players and fans. They will also create a TV highlights and reality show after every round of the league, in order to deliver more basketball-related on campus stories to attract more people to this new league set up.
