July 28: Invited by Sina Sports, the Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. has set up his official Weibo account (@NeymarJr) with a greeting for his Chinese fans and the announcement of a fan event in Shanghai on July 31.
In the future, Neymar’s Weibo account will be updated simultaneously with his other social media accounts and to communicate better with his Chinese friends, Neymar will also post more Chinese-related content for his Chinese fans on his new Weibo account.
Notably, Neymar’s imminent arrival and new Weibo account marks the fact, that the top 5 football stars with the most social-media followers have joined Weibo – Cristiano Ronaldo (@CristianoRonaldo), Neymar (@NeymarJr), Lionel Messi (@梅西LeoMessi10), David Beckham (@DavidBeckham) and Ronaldinho (@小罗_Ronaldinho).
Alongside inviting them to join Weibo, Sina Sports will also provide those stars with specific advice and operations support of their Weibo accounts, which will allow them to communicate better with their Chinese fans and enhance their influence in the Chinese market.
