SPORTACCORD 2024 INSIGHTS: Sport’s Perfect Storm
23 May 2024 14:34
Dutch Eredivise club ADO Den Haag have arrived in Beijing to start their 3-day China Tour.
According to a report posted by the People’s Daily, ADO will pay a visit to Beijing Bayi High School to run a campus soccer training course before playing against China League One side Beijing BG in a friendly on July 29.
The pre-season friendly game, the China Trophy has been organized by United Vansen, the Chinese owner of the Hague-based soccer club.
In 2014, United Vansen bought a 99% stake in ADO, with the club hoping that the Chinese investment would boost its flagging fortunes on and off the field.
Despite a protracted dispute between ADO and its Chinese owner, the two sides made a joint announcement in January saying that they had solved the club’s financial problems.
ADO also sees this visit as an opportunity to promote their youth training model in China. After the friendly game, several ADO players will stay on to participate in a couple of soccer charity programs being hosted in Guangxi province.
