As news broke out related to changes in LeSports sports event broadcast, some changes will take place in the broadcasting of the CSL in the new season.
PPTV, owned by Suning Group, is reported to have become the exclusive new media partner of the CSL for the 2017 season. They have acquired the broadcasting rights of all 240 games on PC and mobiles, as confirmed in a one-year contract worth ¥1.35 billion.
CCTV will broadcast 2 games in every round, one of which will be on Saturday night and the other selected randomly. Besides, it has also gained the rights to offer on-demand video highlights of all games.
The situation with local TV stations is that they will largely remain unchanged from last season.
Baofeng Sports and Whaley TV have retained the broadcasting rights of one game in every round (the same game as broadcast by CCTV), and of another designated game on mobile. Whaley TV in particular will retain the broadcasting rights of one game every round on OTT.
Weibo was given the rights to offer on-demand short videos of the CSL, and Sohu Sports has renewed their contract for on-demand service.
