Chinese air conditioner manufacturer Gree has been named as an official supplier of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by the organising committee.
The news came from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Organising Committee as the brand has installed its air conditioners at the event’s main stadium as well as the athlete village and media village.
It marks Gree as the second Chinese brand to agree a partnership with Rio 2016 alongside sportswear and sports equipment provider, 361 Degrees.
Gree Vice President Xie Dongbo said, “As an official supplier, Gree has worked its way through with the Organising Committee to overcome many difficulties in providing products and services to the Olympic Games. We’ve clearly seen the commitment that Rio 2016 and the Brazilian Government have made to these Olympic Games.”
Gree is a Shenzhen-based producer of air conditioners which has spent a lot on sport over recent years. It has been an official supplier to a list of major sporting events, including the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
