China’s Ledman Group this morning announced the company has finalized the 100% takeover of Australian A-League side Newcastle Jets FC. The news came at a press conference held at Beijing Crowne Plaza.
As Ledman Group President Martin Lee revealed, Newcastle Jets’ China Strategy and business development in China have officially started. The new club chairman showcased the availabilities of Newcastle Jets’ three-tier partnerships in China, including the main partnership, the official partnership and the official sponsorship.
The new chairman also shows strong belief in bringing Jets back to the AFC Champions League within a few years. In addition, he added they would try to introduce at least one Chinese player to the Newcastle Jets. Currently preparations are underway for a preseason tour by the Australian soccer club to China in the summer. As well as the China Tour, youth football exchanges and football-related tourism will be explored as part of Ledman’s strategy.
Ledman Group is a Shenzhen-based manufacturer of high-tech LED signage. It is an official partner of the Chinese Super League and owns a club in China League Two, the third tier of China's soccer leagues. Ledman is also a naming-rights partner of Portugal's Second Division and has a strategic shareholding in Infront Sports and Media Group.
