Chinese badminton star Li Xuerui led the China women's team to a 3-1 victory over South Korea in the final. Denmark beat Indonesia to win their 1st Thomas Cup title, and in so doing also became the first European country to win the BWF Thomas Cup.
Badminton is warmly welcomed in the Asia Pacific area, especially in China. Almost 80% of the Olympic badminton medallists are from the Asia Pacific region. For the Chinese, badminton has always enjoyed the same reputation as table tennis and both are regarded as “national representative sports”.
This badminton partnership not only breaks new ground for TOTAL which mainly focuses its branding activities on the motorsports area, but also indicates TOTAL’s commitment to grow in the Asia Pacific area, especially in the Chinese market.
