The Chinese Super League (CSL) is receiving more and more attention worldwidewith more proven players playing in the league. Owing to the growing interest and investment in Chinese professional soccer, the CSL is now home to the likes Ramires, Teixeira and Augusto. With Luiz Felipe Scolari and Mano Menezes leading Guangzhou Evergrande and Shandong Luneng respectively, the Brazilians’ long-admired presence in the CSL and BandSports’ live coverage help more people get to know the league in Brazil, the Soccer Kingdom.
As well as Brazil, the CSL is now being aired in as many as 51 countries and regions in the world through TV and new digital media. We can arguably say the CSL, driven by a large amount of investment, is gaining an ever-increasing influence in the soccer world.
However, there is still much room for improvement in Chinese soccer despite the rising interest and the encouragement of investment. Compared with the world’s leading soccer nations, China still needs to develop soccer at the grassroots level and the academies of professional clubs. There are also issues around property structure, infrastructure and even fan culture.
Against this background, a list of international and domestic experts and insiders will be assembling at the China Football Summit 2016 in Chongming, Shanghai from 26-27 May to share their insights on Chinese soccer and the approaches to further development.
We’ll have the Shanghai Football Association, the Shanghai Chongming Sports Bureau and the French Football Federation alongside the CMC Group, City Football Group, Ali Sports, IDG Capital and Super Sports at the Summit. In addition, properties, such as Liverpool FC and Inter Milan, will also deliver an overview of overseas clubs’ outreach in the Chinese market. We’ll also see principles from youth academies like SONAX and R&F-Chelsea Football School join the panel discussion on how to grow youth soccer in the country.
Club officials from Arsenal, Southampton, Wolfsburg and Norwich will also be present at the Summit. With the Chinese soccer industry as the spotlight, the China Football Summit 2016 will facilitate discussions on “building a soccer county (Chongming)”, “exploration of youth soccer models”, “key elements in the Chinese soccer industry” etc.
