ESPN,the U.S.-based global cable and satellite television channel, launched its official Chinese language website on Tencent's QQ sports site recently.
Tencent Holdings Ltd is China's largest Internet company, whose products Wechat and QQ are ubiquitous in Chinese social life and commerce.
The website will allow Chinese sports fans’ access to ESPN’S exclusive quality content, such as videos and analysis for the National Basketball Association playoffs and international soccer matches.
Articles and statistics analysing what is going on in National Collegiate Athletic Association men's basketball are also available now.
The website will add X Games, its extreme sports events later.
As the sports industry is getting hot in china now, giants like Alibaba and Tencent are investing a lot of money in premier sports content and trying to develop and operate sports events in the hope that they can get to own the intellectual property of such events.
