Ali Sports, the sports arm of China’s e-commerce powerhouse Alibaba Group, has launched a membership service platform for table tennis and badminton enthusiasts in China in a joint initiative with the Chinese Table Tennis Association (CTTA) and the Chinese Badminton Association (CBA).
As revealed, the platform will cover various services including normal activities, event registration and participation, social opportunities, venue appointment, professional training, equipment sales and trip services. In addition, the platform will align with Alibaba’s Taobao and Alipay as well as its bid data to engage more enthusiasts and participants.
Under the plan, the new platform will be able to attract over 10 million authenticated members within ten years.
Liu Xiaonong, director of China’s Table Tennis and Badminton Center, said “it (the new platform) will integrate the CTA’s and CBA’s national fitness activities resources and Ali Sports’ internet resources to build a comprehensive service platform for all participants in the games of table tennis and badminton.”
