Chinese Super League giants Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC have reportedly hired 24 trainers and coaches from La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid CF. They will help upgrade the club's youth academy under the partnership between the two clubs, according to British newspaper The Sun.
As reported, the Real Madrid Foundation will help Evergrande build a world-class youth academy with the help of a group of elite Spanish coaches and trainers.
"They need, what we call in Spain, football of the streets,” said Javier Moreiras, a Spanish trainer. "They must start with these kids. Maybe in 15, 20 years time, they will have a chance to go to a World Cup.”
Evergrande Football School is currently the world’s largest residential soccer academy recognised by Guinness World Records last June. At that time, the academy had 2,577 enrolled juniors.
Guangzhou Evergrande, coached by Brazilian Felipe Scolari, has been one of the most high-profile teams in Asia over the past few years. The team has won five straight CSL titles and two AFC Champions League trophies in the last three years.
